Is travel insurance protection important for my trip?
Protect your investment. Teaching Vacations are non-refundable.
Your Teaching Vacation is your trip. Your coverage is yours to choose.
Fit Bodies does not provide or arrange travel insurance. We strongly recommend every pro secure their own protection before they travel. Here is the simplest way to do it — in two steps.
Step 1: Check the card you already have
Most premium travel credit cards include trip cancellation, trip interruption, baggage, and travel-delay coverage at no extra cost — as long as you pay for the trip with that card. This is the fastest, free option. Start here before buying anything.
| Region | Card | Why it's worth checking |
|---|---|---|
| US | Chase Sapphire Preferred | Trip cancellation/interruption, baggage, no FX fee — best value |
| US | Capital One Venture X | Strong protection plus lounge access |
| US | Amex Platinum | Premium coverage, emergency evacuation assistance |
| Canada | National Bank World Elite Mastercard | Top-rated Canadian card for insurance; up to 60 days medical |
| Canada | Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite | Strong emergency medical, no FX fee |
Call the number on the back of your card or check your benefits guide to confirm coverage limits before relying on it.
Step 2: Fill the gaps with a dedicated policy
Credit cards often skip emergency medical and evacuation coverage — the most important part for international travel. If your card doesn't cover it, buy a standalone plan.
| Who | Options |
|---|---|
| United States | Squaremouth or InsureMyTrip (comparison marketplaces) · or direct from Travelex, Seven Corners, or Allianz Travel |
| Canada | Manulife, Allianz Global Assistance, or TuGo · or compare via PolicyAdvisor |
| International / Nomads | SafetyWing, World Nomads, or IMG Global (best for long-term and multi-country trips) |
Once you're covered, keep digital copies of your policy details and emergency assistance numbers accessible while you travel.
When to buy
Purchase your policy as soon as your booking is confirmed — before you buy flights. Many policies include time-sensitive benefits (such as pre-existing condition waivers) that only apply within a set window after your first trip payment. Don't wait.
